Congratulations to Doug Know for his HIO on #5 last Thursday. It was his 10th (yes 10th) HIO in his career. I’ll have what he’s having!
The HIO Insurance Fund can still withstand another HIO tab, so there is no need to replenish at this time.
Member Drawing – Tonight at 6:30pm – $500 & $150.
Last Thursday night, we had no winners. For the $500 pot, Paul & Danielle Haney were drawn, but were not here. And Nick & Kara Miller were drawn for the $100 pot, but were not here either. That means for tonight, we’ll still be drawing two names from the bowl for a $500 pot & $150 pot. Remember, drawing time is at 6:30pm. Good luck!
Men’s Opening Day Tournament – Saturday, April 25th
LAST CALL for sign-ups. The sheet will be pulled at the end of today.
Coming up this Saturday is our Men’s Opening Day Tournament at the club. The sign-up sheet for the event is on the Bulletin Board outside of the Pro Shop. Cut-offs for sign-up is the end of the business day on Thursday, April 23rd. The computer will put together teams on Friday morning. Pairings should be available by 12pm on Friday. Handicaps for the event will be set at 90%.
Plans are to open both the driving range grass tee and the new putting green for this event.
The event is a standard ABCD event and will be scored as a Modified Best Ball…
– Best 1 of 4 on Par 5s
– Best 2 of 4 on Par 4s
– Best 3 of 4 on Par 3s

- 8:15am Driving Range Opens
- 8:30am Breakfast (included for all players) in Grille Room/Carousel Room
- 9:45am Call to Carts / Rules Discussion
- 10:00am Shotgun Start
Entry Fee for the event is $75 per player. $55 will be billed to your account and will cover Breakfast, Prize Fund and Skills Contests. Please bring $20 cash with you the morning of the event to cover Skins which will be paid out that day. Cart fees are not included.
Cinco de Derby Event – Saturday, May 2nd (flyer attached)
It’s that time of the year where we combine our love of the Kentucky Derby, Cindo de Mayo and Ducks into one night of fun at the club.
At 6:00pm, the running of the ducks will commence. For those that are new to the club, we’ll take about 300 numbered rubber ducks and dump them at the top of the spillway and race them down the stream behind 18 green. The first five ducks to cross the stripe finish in the money. Ducks are currently being sold at the bar. $5 per duck and will get charged to your member account.
At 6:15pm, we will have a Hat Contest for those who dress up for the occasion. If you’ve ever watched the Kentucky Derby, you know the deal. We’re looking for the best hats from our membership. I remember last year’s contest being pretty competitive. Lots of great entries.
And because this is horse race, there will be the traditional ‘offerings’ throughout the evening.
Post time is somewhere between 6:45pm – 6:57pm.
Chef Steven will be putting together a great ‘Cinco de Mayo Buffet’ that will include several kinds of tacos, toppings, rice, beans, chips, salsa, and even churros. Food will be available at the conclusion of the Kentucky Derby.
Mel and her crew will have many traditional specialty drinks available from both genres.
Cost for the event is only $25 per person (ducks & horses not included). Reservations can be made by emailing us at reservations@grovecitycc.com, using the Phone APP, or calling us at 724-748-4912 x3. And you can always sign-up directly in the Grille Room on our sign-up table next to the bar. We need your reservations no later than 4pm on Thursday, 4/30. Add $5 for RSVPs after or walk-ins if available.
Because of the event, we will not be serving ala carte dinner service on Saturday evening.
This is really a fun event at the club. Come on out and cheer on your ducks and horses.
Mother’s Day Brunch – Sunday, May 10th, 10:30am-2:00pm (last seating at 1:00pm)
If you missed out on Easter Brunch a few weeks ago, we’ll be doing it again. This time, we’ll be hosting a wonderful Sunday Brunch in honor or Mom. Yes, Mother’s Days is coming up in a few weeks and we’ll be putting out another fantastic array of tasty items created by our Culinary Team. Full menu to be released shortly. Please do not wait until the last minute with your reservations. This unfortunately happened with Easter and we were forced to close off reservations at certain times.
